Sketchy on the Detail

Draw a little every day

Y2D225 and night night

We’ve had pretty clear nights lately, and with the moon out, the weatherboard on the neighbour’s house has an eerie glow. With the curtains open the lights out, it would make a great setting for a ghost story. So with that, good night and sweet dreams…

Y2D191 and gotcha

So, I have been seeing this view for the past two weeks and I have finally attempted to capture it in pen. There is a lot of artistic licence going on here.

Y2D179 and window dressing

The window in my room makes lovely tartan-esque patterns in the morning, all dark shadows and filmy curtains.

Y2D90 and old friends

I haven’t drawn a picture of my favourite pirate cat, Cap’n Jack, for a while so here is one of him and first mate, staring out the window. No doubt the pair are thinking up fiendish plans on how to nab all the local birdlife.

Y2D72 and street furniture

Today I had a little wait before meeting my friend; we were going to see Ben Miller in “The Duck House”, which we thoroughly recommend by the way. As said friend was a little late (thank you Transport for London) and it was cold, I sat drawing the lamps, railings and windows from a local coffee shop window.  Always practicing those lines. Do they look straighter to you?

Y2D42 and not quite big enough

The back windows of some flats overlook the bus station, and having just missed one bus I had a full ten minutes to observe a young fella try to open the window and let some air in. Problem was, he was just not quite big enough, and had to resort to the elder sibling in the end.

Y2D41 and steamy windows

It has definitely turned autumnal, and we are now waking up to frosty morns and steamy windows. Snuggling weather, methinks.

Day 353 and welcoming

Really people, if you did not want me to look into your front rooms, then don’t leave the curtains open and the lights on, because I am a nosy so-and-so. This window is by my local bus stop. It is nothing special except that the lit lamp in the otherwise dark window always looks so welcoming….and I like playing with gold pencils.

Day 328 and rear window

My bedroom window overlooks the back garden. Since I added the conservatory, this is mostly my view now. Plus the shed, gate and miniature plum tree.

Day 313 and inner city gardens

Last day of workshop, I will be blog more about that on my other one, that also means last day to draw inner city London, with it’s many interesting window gardens.
