Sketchy on the Detail

Draw a little every day

Y2D247 and art day

I went to the local art gallery in Hamilton today. It’s quite compact but had several small exhibitions that were very interesting and diverse, including WWI items, a local artist and pre-Federation colonial art. The permanent collection on display currently includes local portraits, Japanese pottery and Italian glass, plus there were lots of little vistas to draw throughout the gallery.

Y2D246 and visiting rellies

I drove over to Mt Gambier, in South Australia, to put flowers on my mum and grandparent’s graves, plus give them the low down of what has been happening lately. It was a nice day so I also stopped off at the ancients’ graves in a different cemetery, plus did a little sketching at the Blue Lake which has a pretty little pumping station.

My family emigrated from Scotland to settle in this area over a hundred and fifty year’s ago so it’s nice to see all the places that they would have been to as well, though I suspect it is a little more built up now.

Y2D245 and take five

This trip is all about catching up with friends and family, so it’s always nice to take five and play on the computer, or in Peppi’s case, have a snooze.

Y2D244 and country driving

We’re on the move, up to Hamilton for a few days, so I drove the little car through the very pretty Victorian countryside. That means I can’t take any photos so have to rely on my somewhat dubious memory for what I saw. But we did see cattle…and trees, though maybe not precisely with giant black outlines.

Y2D243 and quiet nights

The pater and I spent the afternoon in the shed finishing the painting. It’s quite tiring especially when you’re painting the ceiling, walls are not so bad. So in the evening we didn’t feel like much other than a BBQ dinner and a catching up on our TV shows.
