Day 33 and crowns

by Sketchy on the Detail

Arrived in Edinburgh fine, though was not impressed by the early start, but an early start means a decent arrival time so I can do a little sight-seeing in the afternoon.

Today I went to the Queen’s Gallery by the Palace of Holyrood House, to see what was on offer and I sketched this crown.

At first glance it looks incredibly modern, I thought perhaps the late Queen Mother had purchased it with her other Modernist pieces but it was actually a gift to Queen Victoria by the Ecuador government and actually dates from 11th to 15th centuries.

Pretty cool, right?
